Interesting. The legal definition of WMD to include grenades is silly. However, there are now bombs—or bombing tactics—that produce death and destruction comparable to a small, low-yield nuke. Better to keep the correct definition of WMD than to dispense with the term, maybe.

I agree .Besides forever a long time . A grenade in a bus is a weapon of mass destruction . Just because Bush used the term in his deception , I wouldn’t ban the term forever .

I agree.

Or rather, weapons of mass destruction doesn’t need a definition. It means weapons of mass destruction. If they can’t cause mass destruction, they’re not weapons of mass destruction. Blowing up a bus is not mass destruction.

I don’t know about not needing a definition, I mean really they don’t even destroy mass at all, they just spread it around a little…or a lot.

Technically, Eric Harroun, a U.S. Army veteran who joined the rebellion in Syria, has only been charged with using a “destructive device.” (More on him in a second.)

Now that is what I call foreign policy blowback……..

The soldier, Eric Harroun, 30, was arrested on Wednesday after arriving at Dulles International Airport outside Washington and charged in Alexandria, Va., on Thursday with “conspiring to use a destructive device outside the United States.”

WMD is not mentioned.

If the US want’s to go down this road then we’re using a weapon of mass destruction every time we fire off a hellfire missile.

Whoever decided for criminal law purposes to conflate destructive devices with WMDs didn’t think their cunning plan through very far.
